Freeflow’s Pamper Box – What’s inside?

Freeflow’s Pamper Box is our most recent project, and our team has worked hard to include all sorts of goodies which will help you relax, whether you’re on your period or just feel like a pamper evening. Our box is 100% vegan friendly and all profits go towards donating menstrual products to girls in India who don’t have access to any, as well as running educational workshops to help reduce period poverty and break the stigma. We’ve included products from brands who have a similar ethos to ours, as well as biodegradable and vegan products. Below is some more specific information about the products you’ll find in our period pamper box.

1) Freda eco regular pads and 4 Freda eco night pads.

-     These pads are biodegradable which is so important, especially because a big-brand pack of 14 menstrual pads contains the same amount of plastic as 5 carrier bags. Like us, Freda prioritise combatting period poverty and a portion of their profits go to charities addressing the issue.

2)  1 Timmins candle

-     In the box you will find a handmade fig and cassis candle. Like us, Timmins is local to Sheffield. All products are made from natural eco soy wax, cotton wicks and are vegan friendly.

  3) 2 Moo Free Chocolate Bars

-    These delicious chocolate bars are gluten free, dairy free and soya free, so they are suitable for both vegetarian and vegans. The flavours included are 'original' and 'caramel.'

 4)  1 Clippers peppermint tea and 1 Clippers wild berry tea

-  Clippers is the UK’s largest Fairtrade tea brand. All of Clippers products are made with pure and natural ingredients. Their teabags are plastic free, and they have recently switched to a plant-based, fully biodegradable bio-material. They also never use chemically bleached teabags. Peppermint tea can also help period cramps!

 5) 1 pink clay facemask

-    Facemasks are always a must for a pamper evening. Pink Clay masks help to restore and replenish skin with moisture, draw out impurities and lightly exfoliate the complexion with its slightly grainy texture.

 6) Some fab movie and tv recommendations chosen by our team to help you relax!

We hope you love it as much as we do! The price of the box is £10 plus postage and packaging and you can buy at this link https://enactussheffield.org/freeflow/shop.htm or through clicking the link on our Instagram or twitter bios. Thank you for your support, and keep your eyes peeled for the exciting projects we’ve got coming up!

Period Poverty Among Refugee Women

According to the UNHCR there are at least 82.4 million people in the world who are displaced. Of these 20.7 million are refugees and 4.1 million are asylum-seekers. Women make up half of these people. In their struggle to leave their homes for safety, sanitary products are often an after-thought. However, these specific need not be overlooked in emergencies by aid organisations as women do not stop menstruating in a crisis and their needs must be met. Although according to research there is an improvement in the matter, there is still more that can be done, especially with the fact that most decision-makers are men.   A study by Global One found that in camps in Syria and Lebanon, almost 60 percent of women didn’t even have access to underwear, with more yet lacking access to period products. This leads to these women resorting to use alternatives such as old rags or tissue to manage their period. However, the issue is not limited to the lack of access to sanitary products. In such...

Sea sponge tampons – are they safe?

As we talk more and more about the importance of sustainability, reusable and natural period products gain on popularity, among them sea sponge tampons.  What are the sea sponge tampons?  Also called menstrual Sponges and Period Sponges, they work exactly like traditional tampons. They are worn inside the body to absorb menstrual flow. They are made from sea sponges, which are living organisms, that grow in the oceans. Depending on the flow, one sponge can be used for up to 8 hours.  How to use them?  Always sanitize a sea sponge tampon before the first use and wash your hands before inserting it. Put the tampon in warm often so it gets softer and then squeeze it to get rid of water. When the sponge is soft squish it and carefully insert it.  The sea sponge tampons are easy to put in for majority of menstruating people, but you can add a small drop of organic oil on a sponge to make the process even more comfortable.  How to clean and store sea ...
